  • Ability to navigate file directories, open and rename files 

  • Knowledge of how to use a flash drive 

  • Patience using a computer for up to an hour

Staff-led program to use makerspace equipment to make a specific item to take home. Please see Helpful Computer Skills for Maker Projects.

Helpful Computer Skills for Maker Projects

Most maker projects require a design file that is uploaded to the software that runs the equipment. For this reason, the following skills are very helpful. 

  • Ability to use a keyboard to copy and paste 

  • Ability to use a mouse to double-click and left-click, click-and-drag and highlight text, and scroll 

  • Ability to navigate file directories, open and rename files 

  • Knowledge of how to use a flash drive 

  • Patience using a computer for up to an hour

Supplies provided. Maker programs are available to Glen Ellyn Public Library cardholders. Maker program registration begins 30 days prior to the event.

To use The Workshop, visitors must complete, sign, and date the Makerspace Use Agreement and Waiver and Release of Liability. Visitors under age 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the agreement on their behalf.
