Program Description

Emerging Authors

An emerging author is a writer who has some professional experience and recognition but has not yet reached an established level. The term is often used to describe early-career writers who may need support. The library’s Emerging Author Collection offers local authors the opportunity to have their books on shelves and in circulation, receive wider exposure, and reach an audience they might not otherwise influence. Learn more about the Emerging Author Collection, including how to submit your work. This winter, the library is also supporting early-career writers with programs, tools, and encouragement!

Details

Even if you don’t consider yourself a writer, putting pen to paper on a regular basis can fuel self-awareness, creativity, enjoyment, and build community. In this six-week program, local author Janet Penley will explore voice, tense, storytelling, details, word play, and going deeper with fun prompts and exercises. The best way to get better at writing is … just write.
