Celebration of Culture
These events acknowledge holidays and other occasions that are valued in our community.
By including these days, we hope that you
- see your diversity mirrored on our calendar
- feel like we are taking your beliefs and observances into account with our programming
- become aware of occasions valued by other members of the community
- appreciate the diversity of our community
This effort, as well as others to come, are the result of our participation in the Glen Ellyn DEI Project meetings and listening sessions. The library is committed to furthering our commitment to understanding and meeting the needs of our community.

FoL Book Sort
The Friends operate a used book sale area in the Library basement and hold public sales approximately every other month. To prepare for these sales, they have book sorts about once a week. At the sorting sessions, volunteers look through the donated items recently received and decide if and where they should be shelved. Occasionally, this time is used to organize and prepare for upcoming sales. Sorts are a great opportunity to socialize, chat about books, and help your library. You don’t need to RSVP, just come when you can and stay as long as you like. Check in with the staff at the Library Services Desk and you will be directed down to the basement.
