Northwestern University Biomedical Engineering PhD student Rebecca Keate returns to discuss common concerns regarding COVID-19, the virus origins and transmission, and social distancing measures. Keate will also discuss technologies and drugs used to improve COVID-19 patient outcomes and progress on the development of vaccines. 

This program is presented in partnership with the Orland Park Public Library.

Biography

Rebecca Keate is a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University, where she researches electrically conductive biomaterials for tissue engineering. Rebecca graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in May 2019 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Physics. She has work experience with Johnson & Johnson and Becton Dickinson, where she worked on medical device Research & Design teams. Her research expertise involves a diverse number of biomedical subjects, including bacterial infection, cellular mechanisms of cancer, and tissue mechanics.
